Out of hospital
Emporia Recreation Director Tom McEvoy is out of the hospital, but it may be a couple of weeks before he returns to the Lee Beran Recreation Center.
McEvoy was released Tuesday from Newman Hospital, where he had been for nearly a week after a bacterial infection upset his diabetes. He was admitted June 13 but continued to keep in touch with staff at the recreation center during his hospitalization.
“I’m OK,” McEvoy said from home Thursday. “I brought a lot of work home, I’ve got a lot of things to get done. I’ll be back in a couple of weeks. I’m taking some time off and getting everything under control before I go back.”
