Poker run for MD
The seventh annual C&J’s Poker Run — MDA Ride of approximately 100 miles will be held Sunday, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Senior Citizens Center park on the corner of 12th Avenue and East Street. The last bike out will be at noon
The cost is $15 a poker hand for each person, which includes a hamburger, chips, beans and beverage; and $5 for any additional hand. Prizes will be given for the first, second and third hands and lowest hand, with the top prize being a Harley-Davidson jacket.
Proceeds will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Candles for the Americus pool
Americus needs 112 people to sell 30 jar candles at $12 apiece from Home Interiors and Gifts to make its goal of $20,000 to help fund the Americus City Pool.
Nakita Elwood of Home Interiors and Gifts said she is searching for people and organizations to help sell the candles. The candles will be from the fall line.
