GOOD NEWS came for Emporia today when the Regional Development Association announced that Hill’s Pet Food would build a new $100 million pet food plant in Emporia.
With this announcement comes much opportunity. The plant will provide 100 new jobs at good pay levels, which will do much to propel our community forward. This announcement is the economic home run that our community has been needing.
It is also important that we don’t overlook our other recent success stories. REG is building a new biodiesel plant and Westar is building a new peaking power plant.
Our community is on the move and we can only wonder what good news might come next. Perhaps some major retailers will announce development plans in Emporia. We will have to wait and see.
A big welcome to Hill’s Pet Food and a pat on the back to the Regional Development Association and the city leaders who helped make these deals happen.
