Angel food

Grace United Methodist Church has joined the Angel Food Ministry, with their first delivery planned for July 14. The times and days to order are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., June 28; 2 to 6 p.m., June 29; and 10 a.m to 2 p.m., June 30. Orders will be taken in Fellowship Hall (south entrance) of the church, 2 Neosho St.

June Bug Cancer

Foundation

The second annual Parking Lot BBQ will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the west lot of the Cancer Center to benefit the June Bug Cancer Foundation. For a $4 donation, a person will get a hamburger or hot dog, chips, baked beans, rice krispie treat and bottled water.

Farewell reception

A farewell reception for Salvation Army captains Mark and Sue Haslett will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Salvation Army annex building, 327 Constitution St. There will be a welcome reception from 2 to 4 p.m. July 1 for incoming captains Jeremiah and Hope Burris and their children, Kaitlyn, Jeremiah and Isaac, at the annex building.

Fish fry

The eighth annual Fish Fry and Fireworks Display will be held Saturday in the City Park at Reading. Fish, hamburgers, hot dogs and cold beverages are provided and the rest of the meal is potluck. Those attending are to bring a covered dish and lawn chairs. Serving will begin at 6:30, with fireworks at dusk. There is no admission fee, but a raffle of various sporting goods and gift basket will be conducted to help defray the costs of the event.
