ESU grad to sing
Thursday
Soprano Dru Rutledge, an Emporia native, will give a recital at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Emporia Presbyterian Church.
Rutledge will be representing the United States in Graz, Austria this summer through the American Institute of Musical Studies. She is a graduate of Emporia High School and Emporia State University. This past year, she attended Western Michigan University. She has since enrolled at Wichita State University.
The recital is free. Rutledge will be accompanied by Tifanny Budke.

At 3 p.m. Tuesday, the Emporia Public Library will feature “CSI: How Detectives Work.”
This program, featuring Lyon County Sheriff’s Detective Roger Proehl and the Crime Scene Van, will explain how someone becomes a detective, what kinds of detectives there are and more. Children will get the chance to see how detectives investigate a crime scene and take a peek inside the Crime Scene Van.
The Emporia Public Library Summer Preschool and School Age Storytime theme for the week of June 18th is “Mystery Blast Off!” Preschool Storytime is Monday and Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m., and on Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. for 2-5 year olds. School Age Storytime is Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. for 5 -11 year olds. The Emporia Public Library Summer Storytimes for Pat-A-Cake Club and Mother Goose Time Storytime theme for the week of June 18th is “I Spy Shapes.” Pat-A-Cake Club is held at 9:15 a.m. on Monday and Thursday mornings for infants to 18 months. Mother Goose Time is held at 9:45 a.m. on Monday and Thursday mornings for toddlers up to 36 months.
