Armitage, Keisler named to All-Centennial league team; 14 area players honored

A pair of Emporia High athletes were honored on the All-Centennial League team earlier this week.
Senior Cole Armitage earned second-team honors as an infielder, and senior Robert Keisler was an honorable-mention selection.
Seaman swept the individual awards, as pitcher Tyler Bean was player of the year and coach Steve Bushnell was coach of the year.
Seven area players also earned distinction on the All-Flint Hills League first team.
Those honored were: pitcher Blake Mayer, Council Grove; catcher Dustin Geissert, Herington; second baseman Coty Miller, Herington; shortstop Tanner Messer, Council Grove; third baseman Brian Blackwell, Herington; outfielder Roman Murray, Northern Heights; and utility player Beau Arndt, Northern Heights.
Seven area athletes also took honorable mention All-League honors in the Flint Hills League. They were: pitcher Jed Lee, Northern Heights; first baseman Derek Bremer, Council Grove; first baseman Jeremy Bishoff, Northern Heights; outfielder Darrell Melcher, Herington; outfielder Clint Roddy, Council Grove; utility player Lucas Kohler, Council Grove; and utility player Ben Gonzales, Herington.
