Lyon County Commission
Lyon County commissioners will meet at 8 a.m. Wednesday in the county commission chambers at the Lyon County Courthouse. Commissioners will:
• 9 a.m.: Discuss approval of rocking 0.3 miles of Burlingame Road; consider buying about 220 feet of used 26” steel casing at $22/foot from Henry Hoelting for $4,840; consider approving the plans and contract documents for improvements on Road U and Road 200 and set a letting date.
• 9:45 a.m.: Consider approval of canvassing procedures and rules.
• 10 a.m.: Discuss end of month and priorities for budget.
Emporia City Commission
The Emporia City Commission will meet at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the commisison chambers, 518 Mechanic St.. The agenda includes two tax abatement hearings: one at 1:35 p.m. for Detroit Diesel and one at 1:40 p.m. for Glendo. Commissioners will also consider:
• Proclamations declaring June 15 “National Teachers Hall of Fame Day” and June as “Zoo Month.”
• A request by the Emporia Aquatic Club to close Jones Aquatic Center for a swim meet on July 14 and 15.
• A public hearing for Presbyterian Manor bonds.
• Whether to allow a fraternity house at 1326 Highland St.
• Bids on a wind cone project at the city airport.
• An agreement with Rural Water District No. 5 to provide water to the new Westar plant.
• An appointment to the Board of Zoning Appeals.
• The city manager’s report.
Olpe city council
The Olpe City Council meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall. Unfinished business includes the golf course contract, sewer/water to new development, street resurfacing project, water tower problems. New business includes Water project- Midwest Assistance Program, restricting ATVs within city limits, KDOT acquisition, request to close street June 23, budget; employee reports.
