2 Lebo players selected as all Stars

Tuesday, June 5, 2007

A pair of Lebo football players have been selected to play in the 22nd Annual 8-Man All-Star Football Game to be held in Beloit on Saturday.

Taylor Barker and Bryant Linsey, both 2007 graduates of Lebo High School, will be playing for the Division I East Team.

Barker was selected All-State honorable mention in 2005 and 2006 while playing both defensive line and tight end for the Wolves. He also earned Gazette All-Area honorable mention and All-League honors in his last two seasons.

Last year, Barker had 90 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss and one interception. On offense, he added 28 catches for 195 yards.

Barker also participated in the state basketball tournament the last three seasons, helping the Wolves to a Class 1A runner-up finish in 2005.

Taylor is the son of Todd and Mary Barker and plans to attend Emporia State University next year to play football.

Linsey was named honorable mention All-League last season. He also earned honorable mention Gazette All-Area and All-State distinctions as both a running back and defensive back.

During his senior season, Linsey had 89 carries for 1,037 yards and also had 18 catches for 284 yards. He contributed 75 total tackles on defense with one fumble recovery and two interceptions.

In addition to playing basketball, Linsey also qualified for the state track meet in 2006 and placed fourth in the javelin and was part of the third-place Lebo 4x100 relay.

Bryant, son of R.D. and Cindy Linsey, will join Barker at ESU and participate in football.

The All-Star Game will be at 2 p.m. at Trojan Field in Beloit.

this seems a bit biased since there were at least 8 Lyon county League Football players (that I know of) that were selected for the 8 - man all-star game in Beloit. An excellent showing for our league compared to others. DO YOUR HOMEWORK and give credit where credit is due.

The information on Taylor and Bryant was sent in to us at their request, according to the e-mail we received. They listed The Gazette as their hometown newspaper for press releases. We received no press releases on any other players from this area.

Since then, we've run information about other players as the information became available to us.

Rest assured, there is no bias here. We already have planned on recognizing the other players who made the All-Star game, and that will run in Thursday's paper.
