A pair of Emporians provided strong showings at the Dam to Dam 20K race held in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday.
Skyler Delmott — an Emporia High graduate and track athlete at Emporia State — placed eighth overall out of 3,971 finishers.
His time of 1:08:43 was good for a pace of 5:32 per mile and won his age group of 17-19 years old.
Skyler’s brother, Asher, placed 53rd overall with a time of 1:18:36 (6:19/mile).
The finish was good enough to put him at second in his 16 and under age group.
Asher will be a senior next year at EHS.
The Dam to Dam race is a classic race that begins in the early morning. The first 10K is run in the countryside and the last 10K is run in the city.
