Alumni banquet
Winifred Grimsley Gatewood from the class of 1936 was recognized as the oldest graduate in attendance by Betty Brown, secretary.
The “Americus County Seat” story was presented with Claude Roswurm, narrator, and an ever-changing cast of characters. Those who took part were: Melba Ernst Roswurm; Cheryl Morlok McCallum; Liz Matile Voorhees; Bob and Jackie Worrell Edmiston; Belle Grimsley; and Karol Gatewood McChesney, a fifth generation descendant of William Grimsley, Sr., who was an original member of the Americus Town Company.
Officers elected to serve for the year 2008: president, Linda Grother; vice-president; Wilma Jean Dawes; secretary, Betty Brown; co-treasurers, Mary Beth Horton and Vicki Lieberum.
Township library
The summer reading program will begin June 7 at the Americus Township Library. Daring detectives and super sleuths are invited to join Get A Clue @ Your Library. It is open to children preschool age through 6th grade from 10-11 a.m. each Thursday during June.
The summer reading program is free and all children are welcome to attend. Pre-registration is not required, however, the library staff would appreciate children signing up in advance to make sure the proper amount of supplies are on hand.
