On honor rolls

Rachel Mical Jurgens of Emporia has been named to the President’s Honor Roll for the spring 2007 semester at Johnson County Community College. Jurgens is a student at JCC School of Cosmetology and is a graduate of Emporia High School.

Daniel Orrin Kirk of Emporia was named to the President’s Honor Roll for the spring semester 2007 at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Mo. Students who have taken 12 hours or more for graded credit and have earned a grade point average of 4.0 qualify for the honor.

KU graduates

Candidates for degrees from the University of Kansas who graduated in May from Emporia were: Mayra Aguirre, daughter of Victor and Maria Aguirre, Juris Doctorate; Kathleen Diane Ek, daughter of Jodi Ek, master of social work; Sarah Lindsey Gilreath, daughter of Rod and Ilah Gilreath, bachelor’s degree in history; Bonnie Lynn Horton, daughter of Warren and Maxine Horton, bachelor’s degree in literature, language and writing; Jennifer Leigh Hull, master’s degree in special education and education; Catherine E. Janssen, daughter of Colleen Janssen, doctor of pharmacy; Beatrice S. Magathan, master of social work; Kevin James Rabas, son of Lisa Moritz, doctor of philosophy and English; Samuel Nicholas shepherd, bachelor’s degree in architecture; Trista Renee Taulu, daughter of Patricia Taulu, bachelor’s degree in business and economics.

KSU graduates

Kansas State University students from Emporia who received 2007 semester honors were: Jay Thomas Aber, Crystal Rose Bandel, Whitney Erin Bandel, Lindsey Ann Berger, Dustin T. Hamman, Kacey Raith Harper, Paul Evan Hartley, Lindsay Ann Hicks, Nicholas Andrew Jasso, Justin Joseph Mallon, Betty Sanchez, Rebekah Ann Swafford and Stephanie Jay Yeager.

KSU students from Emporia who received Spring 2007 graduation honors were: Justin Joseph Masson, magna cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in construction science and management; Jessica Kathryn Kohr Webster, magna cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in business administration; and Stephanie Jay Yeager, magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree.
