The Emporia Lions Club is sponsoring the Kansas Lions Mobile Screening Unit, which will provide free screenings for visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, blood pressure and blood sugar. The unit will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday on the south side of the Anderson Building at the Lyon County fairgrounds. The four tests will detect potential problems relating to vision, heart, stroke, glaucoma and diabetes. All those being tested will be informed of potential conditions that require further examination by a medical professional.
The Sight Bus is sponsored by the Lions Clubs of Kansas.
People are encouraged to bring used eye glasses and hearing aids to the fair to donate to the Emporia Lions Club. These eye glasses and hearing aids are combined with donations from other clubs, sorted and distributed in clinics around the world that are sponsored by Lions Clubs International. The Emporia club collects and donates more than 1,000 pairs of eye glasses each year.
