Davies 11th, Delmott 14th at Junior Nationals

Emporia Track Club members Asher Delmott and Jacob Davies ran personal bests at the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics Nationals in Walnut, Calif., on Thursday.

Davies placed 11th in the 800-meter run, posting a time of 1:54.11. He was less than 1 second away from making the top eight, which would have put him in the finals.

Asher Delmott strides forward in the 5,000-meter race Thursday at the Junior Olympic Nationals. Delmott took 14th place in the event.

Delmott, meanwhile, placed 14th in the 5,000-meter run, finishing with a time of 16:27.98.

Brandon Childs, the last ETC competitor in the meet, will participate in the high jump on Saturday.
