Emporia State University has received a $39,172 state grant to pay for another faculty member at the nursing program.
The award was part of more than $600,000 in grants announced by the Kansas Board of Regents Wednesday. Seventeen community colleges and universities received the grants, which are for nursing faculty and supplies.
Funding for the grants was approved during the 2007 legislative session. The grants are part of a 10-year program to address a nursing shortage the state faces.
