Newman Regional Health is well under budget for the anticipated operating loss for the month of June, board members were informed during Wednesday’s board meeting.
The net operating loss for June was $17,354 compared to the budgeted loss of $298,477 for the month.
“On a monthly basis, we don’t like to lose $17,354...” said Newman’s Chief Executive Officer Terry Lambert, adding the numbers don’t look so bad when compared to the budgeted loss.
Also during the meeting, Lambert announced that the hospital has signed an OBGYN, who will start a practice with the Medical Arts Clinic on Aug. 1, 2008.
“We’re just real excited that she is going to be able to come here,” Lambert said. “It was a real team effort in making this happen. We’re really pleased with that.”
Lambert talked about the purchase of another home at 1007 Elm St. The hospital wanted to purchase four homes on Elm Street. This purchase is one of four and will bring the hospital up to owning three of the four homes.
Lambert said after the meeting the homes were identified by the planning and zoning committee to be in an area designated as future public use area. There are no plans to do anything with the homes right now. The two homes the hospital already owns are rented out.
“We’ll probably rent that (1007 Elm) too,” Lambert said.
The board voted to give Lambert the green light to pursue negotiations to purchase the home.
