Eight of the 15 students who traveled to Europe July 19 for a leadership study-abroad experience with Emporia State University, presented projects about different aspects of leadership that they explored while visiting five countries.
The other seven students wrote papers about their concluding thoughts on leadership.
Anna Meyerhoff, a junior political science major, said the presentation gave her a chance to reflect on different aspects of leadership that she learned about and witnessed while abroad.
“I enjoyed doing a presentation. I believe it allowed me to express more of what I gained on the trip,” she said. “It truly allowed me to show what this trip gave me and allowed me to give a little back to the people that aided me on this endeavor.”
Jessica Velazquez, a senior communication major, wrote a paper instead of creating a project. But she attended the presentations and was excited to see her peers discussing such diverse topics.
“The presentations were very impressive. Each person has a unique topic that fit their interest, and everyone did a great job presenting,” Velazquez said. “It brought back so many memories and even some new topics I never thought about while in Europe.”
Mary Shivley, Leadership Education and Development Coordinator, was one of the sponsors of the trip and said she was pleased with how each of the student’s projects turned out.
“Leadership means many things to many different people,” she said. “Each student got the chance to explore his or her own leadership experience.”
