The Country Mart grocery chain said Tuesday it would call and warn card holders who bought chili affected by the Castleberry’s recall within the last 90 days.
Country Mart, which includes Emporia’s two Reeble’s stores, expects to call more than 1,000 customers in connection with the recall and has pulled tainted cans from the shelves. More than 90 brands of chili sauce, hash and other canned products were recalled by Castleberry’s Food Co. after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned that the products could be connected to a botulism outbreak.
The items cited by Country Mart were:
F Castleberry’s Hot Dog Chili Sauce in a 10-ounce can, UPC 3030000101
F Castleberry’s Chili with Beans in a 15-ounce can, UPC 3030001015
F Castleberry’s Chili No Beans in a 15-ounce can, UPC 3030007715
A complete list of items affected by the recall, which includes several products sold under the Kroger brand, can be found at www.fda.gov or www.castleberrys.com. Customers may bring in any cans they have purchased for a refund.
