Road closing
Road E will be closed between Roads 50 and 60 from today through Aug. 8, the Lyon County Highway Department said this morning. The county needs to replace a washed-out crossroad culvert.
Card shower
A card shower is requested for Commodore and Adeline Wood, who celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on July 18. Cards may be sent to 1551 Road 167, Emporia, KS 66801.
Municipal band concert
The Emporia Municipal Band will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday in Fremont Park, Fourth Avenue and Union Street. This week’s theme is “Cook’s Choice,” with all music chosen by the band’s muscians. It will be the last concert in the park of the season.
