Muggle Mania
Sharon Ewing from Designs by Sharon and Belle Grimsley form the Lyon County Historical Society were in charge of the Herbology Booth at the Muggle Mania party Friday evening in downtown Emporia.
They assisted Harry Potter fans with the planting of mystery seeds into pots of soil. With instructions to keep the pot in bright sunlight and well-watered, the guests were sent on their way — to wonder what really will be growing on their window sills. Tractor challenge
Last year, Brandy Nance for the Gazette lost by a mere fraction of an inch to Chuck Samples from KVOE in the tractor challenge at the fairgrounds. This year the challenge will be held on the same northeast track, but the challengers have yet to be named.
In October, Jeff O’Dell from KVOE lost by miles to Bobbi Milynar from the Emporia Gazette at the Americus Days Challenge.
Who will be the drivers this year? Will KVOE take back the bragging rights? Come to the Lyon County Fairgrounds at 1 p.m. July 31 to see. There will be shade and free watermelon.
