Emporia school board prepares for budget work
Saturday, July 21, 2007
The Emporia Board of Education is edging closer to setting a budget for the next fiscal year.
Board members will have a budget workshop from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Mary Herbert Education Center. The workshop is open to the public, according to Nancy Horst, director of community relations for the district. Comments from the public, however, will not be heard at that meeting.
The public may comment at the next budget workshop, scheduled at 5:30 p.m. July 31, also at Mary Herbert.
The board will be asked at its meeting on Wednesday to approve a request to publish notice of its annual budget hearing. Wednesday’s meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at Mary Herbert.
Other items on the agenda for the meeting Wednesday include a quarterly budget report, a district insurance report and purchase of a maintenance work vehicle.
An update on summer capital outlay projects and a request to bid pool repairs at Emporia High School also is on the agenda for the regular board meeting.
