“Do it right the first time,” is Leon Lewis’ philosophy on life.
Originally from New York, Lewis, is Emporia State University’s new associate vice president for technology and computing services and chief information officer.
“Emporia is a unique place to be.” Lewis said. “I came to ESU for better opportunities.”
Before coming to ESU, Lewis served one year as associate chief information officer at North Carolina Central University. Prior to that, he served four years as director of operations at Fayetteville State University.
Lewis received his undergraduate degree from Western Carolina University and his master’s degree in Internet Engineering from Marlboro College in Vermont. Currently, he is finishing his doctorate degree at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale.
One of the goals that Lewis would like to achieve is to help make ESU more focused on customer service. He plans to expand help desk hours to allow more help for the students.
Always having technology on the mind, Lewis, in his spare time enjoys programming.
“It’s fun and something I enjoy doing,” he said.
He also enjoys spending time with his wife and twelve-year-old son.
