2 Emporians selected to compete at Hershey Track and Field games

Two Emporia athletes have been selected to participate in the upcoming Hershey’s Track and Field Games North American Final in Hershey, Pa., on Aug. 4.
John Williams, 10, will participate in the standing long jump and Tyler Tilton, 14, will compete in the 800-meter run.
It is the first time either athlete has been chosen to compete in the North American Finals.
Williams qualified for the North American Finals with a standing long jump of 6 feet, 10 1/2 inches.
Tilton, in addition to track, also participates in cross country and basketball.
The Hershey’s Track and Field Games feature more than 500 young track and field athletes from age 9-14. This is the 30th year for Hershey Track and Field Games.
