Malnourished horses go back to owner

Six malnourished horses have been returned to their owner in Osage County, after being checked and approved by a veterinarian.
“They’ve been seen by a vet and the vet just recommended some things, and we’re going from there,” said Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn, whose department handled the case.
Dunn said that charges would not be filed.
Calls from the public helped officers locate the owner of the horses, which had been kept long-term in a pasture in southwest Osage County. The owner has paid the county’s feed bill for the horses.
Dunn had asked for assistance from the public last week after ownership could not be determined.
Dunn said she appreciated the citizens who called in to ask about adopting the horses or helping care for them.
“We had so many phone calls of people that wanted to take in the animals,” she said. “A lot of people will step up to the plate, which is great. I’m not knocking anybody who called...
“If we could have that many people step up and help the foster children ... that would be a good deal.”

Sure, give the poor animals back to the cruel or clueless person who had them before. Too bad they couldn't have gone to people who really wanted to give them compassionate care. I certainly hope their condition will be monitored to be sure they're getting adequate care from now on.
