Bowyer added to NASCAR Duel
Emporian Clint Bowyer, driver of the No. 07 Richard Childress Chevrolet, has been added to the list of drivers scheduled to race during the “NASCAR Duel on the Sharon Speedway Dirt” on Aug. 14 in Hartford, Ohio.
Dave Blaney, Tony Stewart and Kevin Harvick are the other three NASCAR drivers expected to compete.
The four drivers, along with possible later additions, are scheduled to race e-mods on a night featuring an open sprint car race.
Emporia swimmers to compete in meet;
Pool will be closed
The Jones Aquatic Center will be closed today and part of Sunday because of the annual Summer Swim Meet hosted by the Emporia Aquatic Club.
The pool will re-open for public swimming after the meet at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
A total of 205 swimmers and 13 different teams from across Kansas are expected to compete in the meet. In addition, 16 Emporia Aquatic Club swimmers will be competing.
Events go until 4 p.m. today and from approximately 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.
There is no charge for spectators attending the meet.
