Lyon County Commission
Lyon County commissioners will meet for a study session starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday in the Lyon County commission chambers of the Lyon County Courthouse. Items on the agenda include:
• 9 a.m.: Chip Woods, Lyon County engineer will bring the following items forward: bids for 2007-2008 season for sand and salt; proposal of BG Concultants to perform the construction observation for the Westar roadway improvements not to exceed $34,500; grant application to remove the illegal dump on the west side of Road R7, north of Road 330.
• 9:45 a.m.: Kayla Oney, executive director of Emporia Main Street will discuss Emporia Main Street’s appropriation request.
• 10 a.m.: Mike McEchron, of Corner House, will discuss request of funds from Special Alcohol Fund for building project.
• 10:15 a.m.: Jim Wheeler, of Plum Place, will discuss appropriation of funds.
• 10:30 a.m.: Matt Horton, of the Extension Office, will discuss the budget request for the Extension Office; update on next year’s K-State research.
Emporia Board of Education
Annual appointments will be made by the Emporia Board of Education when it meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Mary Herbert Learning Center. Custodial equipment bids and an agreement for services to recent retirees also are on the agenda.
The board also will consider resolutions for meeting dates, home rule, and waiver of generally accepted accounting principles.
Americus City Council
The Americus City Council meets at 7 p.m. in City Hall. The agenda includes the Fireboard budget (approve 2009 Fireboard budget); sewer/lagoon project; utility maintenance (approve renewal of contract for yearly cleaning of sewer system); and other.
