Emporia Schools

Breakfast and lunch will be served from May 29 to Aug. 3 at Riverside, Timmerman, Walnut, Lowther North, Emporia Middle School and Emporia High School. Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. at the middle and high schools, and at 8:30 at the other four sites. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at all sites.

The meals are free to all children 18 years old and younger. Parents may eat with their children for a minimal charge. All meals must be eaten at the school site. Adult meal prices are $1.50 for breakfast and $3 for lunch.

BREAKFAST

Monday: cereal.

Tuesday: muffin.

Wednesday: breakfast pizza.

Thursday: clod hoppers.

Friday: pancake on a stick.

Breakfast is served with juice and milk.

LUNCH

Monday:hot dog on a bun, seasoned fries, broccoli florets, mandarin oranges.

Tuesday: bosco sticks, tossed salad, melon wedge, graham cookie.

Wednesday: country-fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, hot roll, corn, peaches.

Thursday: burrito, nacho chips, tossed salad, strawberries.

Friday: chicken patty on a bun, tater tots, baby carrots, pineapple.

Lunch is served with milk.

Friendship Meals

EMPORIA

Friendship meals are served at noon at the Emporia Senior Center, 603 E. 12th Ave.

Reservations should be made one day in advance by calling the Senior Center, 343-3160, between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. For home-delivered meals, call 340-8001.

Monday: spaghetti with meat sauce, italian vegetables, texas toast, fruit cup.

Tuesday: pork cutlet, sweet potatoes, scandanavian vegetables, wheat roll, pineapple upside down cake.

Wednesday: sliced turkey, dressing, gravy, green beans, wheat bread, apple.

Thursday: chef salad, cottage cheese with pineapple, carrots, crackers, spiced apples.

Friday: beef stroganoff, ranch vegetables, roll, peaches.

NORTH LYON COUNTY

Friendship meals are served at noon at: The Americus Senior Center, 516 Locust St., (620) 443-5352 and the North Lyon County Senior Center at Allen, (620) 528-3414.

Reading residents who want meals can call the North Lyon County Senior Center.

Reservations should be made by phone one day in advance.

Monday: ham loaf, baked potato, succotash, wheat roll, watermelon, cookie.

Tuesday: porcupine meatballs, pasta with herbed butter, carrots, wheat bread, fluffy fruit salad.

Wednesday: barbecue beef on a bun, potato wedges, coleslaw, strawberries and bananas.

Thursday: roast turkey, rice pilaf, winter-mix vegetables, toll, pears, sherbet.

Friday: chicken casserole, marinated vegetable salad, wheat bread, cherry cobbler.
