Northern Heights led early but struggled late, as Osage City rallied for a 58-38 victory on Friday.
The Lady Wildcats used a 15-9 second-quarter run to grab a 24-20 halftime advantage, but it wasn’t enough against high-powered Osage City.
“I was proud of the way that our girls played, especially in the first half,” Heights coach Tim Riemann said. “I know that we can go out and compete with any team — it’s just a matter of them believing in themselves.”
Osage City (10-2) dominated second-half play, outscoring Heights 21-8 in the third quarter and 17-6 in the fourth.
The Lady Indians — who finished runner-up at last week’s Flint Hills Shootout — were led by Hannah Buenger’s 26 points. Kady Paul added 11.

The focus paid off, as the Lady Railers outscored Mission Valley 16-8 in the first quarter and 10-4 in the third.

Pomona girls 56,
Council Grove 40
The Pomona girls raced out to a 31-13 halftime lead over Council Grove Friday night, which proved too be much for the Lady Braves to overcome, as Pomona defeated Council Grove, 56-40.
Though Council Grove outscored Pomona 27-25 out of halftime, it was far too little, too late to come back from the 18-point deficit the Lady Braves faced at the intermission.
“We came out of halftime and made some adjustments to our defense and came out stronger with our defense. On offense, we cleaned things up,” Skaggs said. “The third quarter has been our weak spot throughout the season, so I was proud that they fought better out of the half.”
Pomona’s Stephanie Nitcher led all scorers with 24 points. Sam Smith’s 14 points and Allison Scott’s 13 led Council Grove.
