An Emporia man was seriously injured Thursday night in an accident in the 3100 block of North Highway 99.
James A. Barrett, 21, 2396 Road P, was taken by Midwest Life Team helicopter to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.
Barrett was a passenger in a pickup truck driven by Brian P. Peak, 25, of Burbank, Okla., according to a report from Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputy Garland Hendrickson.
Both men were thrown from the vehicle. Barrett was found on the ground at the scene of the accident. Peak was located in Admire, according to a news release on the accident.
Hendrickson wrote that Peak was driving south on Highway 99 when the pickup left the road and struck a car parked in a field driveway. The pickup continued southbound in the ditch and rolled over twice.
Peak was taken by Lyon County Ambulance Service to Newman Regional Health, where he was treated. Barrett’s condition wasn’t released this morning.
