The spring ballot will be a much more crowded place than anyone expected.
A rush of filings on Monday and Tuesday pushed the number of Emporia school board candidates to eight. Another eight people are set to run for the Emporia City Commission. And four of the county school board races will be competitive ones, including one in Southern Lyon County that will require a primary election.
The Lyon County election races and their participants will be as follows:
