IN THE PAPER on Monday, we had an interesting story about a Polar Plunge that will take place Feb. 10. The Special Olympics wants people to jump into frigid waters at Mouse Lake in hopes of raising money for that organization.
When I read this, I wondered if Emporia school superintendent John Heim might enjoy this activity. Over the years, we have documented the superintendent’s “Olympic” endeavors, and having John take part in the plunge would make sure that no child is left behind.
Of course, the superintendent might need a little encouragement. What better way to show support for having John take a swan dive into Mouse Lake than by sending a pledge in his honor?
The more money raised in his name, the bigger a splash he could make.
If students, teachers, principals, administrative staff, graduates, or John’s “friends” would like to coordinate special fund drives, please feel free. We’ll have the John Heim Splash-o-Meter to keep track of the progress.
