Chamber of commerce
Reservations are open for the Americus Chamber of Commerce annual meeting which starts at 6 p.m. Jan. 29 at the United Presbyterian Church Annex, 557 Broadway.
Information about 2006 projects and the election of officers are agenda items for the business meeting which will follow the program and dinner. A social time will be held from 6 to 6:30 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30.
Since this is the Americus sesquicentennial year, recipes from an 1879 cookbook will be used.
The cost of the dinner is $10. Reservations are due by Jan. 26 and can be made at the KansasLand Bank or by calling (620) 443-5546 or (620) 443-5480. A history program is planned. The speaker will be announced later.
The event is open to the public. Chamber memberships will be available at the meeting.

Grinell and Clarence A. Grinell, a father and son who published the Americus Greeting for many years.
