Taste the soups
The Olpe United Methodist Church will have a Soup Taster Meal from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday. A variety of soups will be served, along with crackers, relishes, desserts, coffee, tea or Kool-Aid. All funds raised will go into the building fund.
Birthday reception
Anna K. Holmberg, who will celebrate her 100th birthday on Jan. 25, will be the guest of honor at a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in Room 110 at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor. Hosts will be her children, Joanne Pherigo of Neosho, Mo., Harlan and Jeannette McCollum of Merced, Calif., and Gary and Donna Robinson of Reading. She requests no gifts.
