‘Five Women’ has

encore show

“Five Women Wearing the Same Dress” will take the stage one more time in Emporia.

For one night only, the wedding-day comedy will give an encore performance starting at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at Emporia State University’s Karl Bruder Theatre in King Hall. After the show, the set, props and costumes will be loaded up and taken to Ames, Iowa for a special performance at Iowa State University.

The ESU show is one of seven to be chosen for regional Kennedy Center competition. If chosen, “Five Women” would be performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., in April.

“Five Women Wearing the Same Dress” is by Alan Ball, creator of the TV series “Six Feet Under” and the screenplay for “American Beauty.” The play follows five bridesmaids hiding out from a fancy wedding reception, all of whom come to realize they have more in common with each other than with the bride.

Tickets for this benefit performance are $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and $5 for students. Tickets can be reserved at 341-6378 or (877) 341-6378. The play is recommended for adult audiences because of strong language, portrayals of drug use and adult situations.
