Robbery attempt is foiled

Tuesday, January 9, 2007

Employees thwarted an alleged armed robbery attmept early this morning at the Ayan restaurant, 728 East 12th Ave.

According to information from the Emporia Police Department, Clinton Peck, 18, of Emporia entered the restaurant with two other men about 1:20 a.m. today. Peck allegedly was armed with a rifle and wearing a ski mask. He was said to have demanded money from Mohamed Dahir, 38, of Emporia. Dahir said that he was struck with the rifle just before another man, Abdifatah Ali, 23, of Emporia entered that area of the restaurant.

Police said that Peck then is alleged to have demanded money from Ali, who also reported he was struck with the rifle.

Dahir grabbed Peck and, with help from Ali, took the rifle from him. The two other men who had entered the restaurant with Peck became involved in the struggle, which moved outside the building.

Police Officer Tom Watts, who was driving past the restaurant, observed the incident and stopped to intervene. The unidentified men fled when they saw the police car approaching.

Dahir and Peck were taken to Newman Regional Health by Emporia-Lyon County Ambulance Service. Peck refused treatment at the hospital and was arrested and taken to the Lyon County Jail.

Ali was treated at the scene by ambulance personnel.

Evidence will be forwarded to the Lyon County Attorney’s office for filing of formal charges against Peck.

Anyone who has information about the other two suspects is asked to call the Emporia Police Department, 343-4200, or Lyon County Crime Stoppers, 342-2273.

And my family is moving there this month. Thats pathetic. Well Mr. PEck, you just won two counts of aggravated battery, attempted armed robbery, unlawful use of a weapon, and if you muttered any racial slurs, say hello to federal prosecution for a hate crime! At least thats what should be done if the evidence supports it.

I knew of Mr. Peck. I think this whole situation is such a shame. He had a lot of potential and it is sad to see him wash down the drain. I Think everyone can agree with me that he needs to go to prison and get his life together. Its sad to know that he has a little girl that will never get to know the man her dad could have been. Mr. Peck you just earned yourself a long time in jail and its too bad that you want to start your adulthood this way. As for his family....keep your heads up, and remember he did it to himself!!!!

Clint,I am the grandma raising YOUR 2 year old daughter. I wonder what it is that you'd like me to tell her about this? I too thought you'd grow up one day and come around, I guess her mom and I will continue giving this little girl a balanced life, without her daddy.

This Boy has not yet been convicted of anything. He is an innocent man as of right now. Treat him that way, is this Not America? He is a US citize, Born and raised here in this Town. Can you say the same for the accusers? Dont think so. Is everyone so sure that they did nothing wrong to this Boy. He is a young man trying to find his way, whomever states that he needs to go to Prison to "Straighten his life up" Evedentally no one has seen the effects Prison has on our young people, it does absolutely No Good for anybody. It doesn't "straighten you up" It teaches you how to break the law better. Ive known this young man his entire life, along with his Family, They are Great people, trying to make a positive effect on the community. This young man then and now has a great heart and Loves People. He will do good in this world and make a Difference and wont need "Prison Life" to teach him that. I would trust him 100% with my Daughter. Keep your head up Clint, People are pulling for you and Love you. Make the rest of your life count and make yourself and your Family proud.

We all need to remember that there should always be consequences for our actions and as parents if we never let our children face those consequences and bail them out of them or pay high money for divertions then our children tend to continue bad things. Eventually then the child does something that the parents can not buy the child out of. The trial will come and the truth will come out and I hope that what Clint is saying is true for his sake and his family.

I would like to say I stand behind Clint and I can total understand what happened. Clint went in to the Ayan cafe in the middle of the night to get some dinner. He was wearing a ski mask because it was cold, it is January after all. He had the rifle because if he left it in his truck, it might have gotten stolen. After walking in to the restaurant, Mr. Dahir and Mr. Ali offered Clint money then tripped and fell on to the butt of his rifle. Angry at their head wounds, Dahir and Ali began to unjustly beat Clint up. When Officer Watts arrived, appearing to catch Clint in the act of "robbing" the place, it was really all a misunderstanding.

I just want everyone to remember, just because some one is caught in the act of a "crime", at the scene of the "crime", with a large firearm, a ski mask, and multiple witnesses, that doesn't mean they did anything wrong, and we should believe that person when he says he's innocent.

Dear Longtime friend: I was wondering how long you have been a friend to this family. We have court documents (signed by Clint) saying who Madisons daddy is What are you talking about DNA test? YOU do not have the whole truth. Also, can you please tell me what we have to gain by "saying" that Clint is her daddy? He is (by his own addmission, under legal counsel) Miss Madisons daddy. We are not the bad people in this situation, you see we stepped up to the plate and we are raising the baby. Please DO NOT use Madison to vent on this family, she is only a innocent baby.As for Clint, he knows how important he was to our family at one time.Longtime friend,I guess you also know that he used to call me MOM!?
