Southern Lyon board keeps seat boundaries
Wednesday, January 3, 2007
Q Is it true that the Southern Lyon County board of education is going to change districts and go to seven at-large members?
A “No ... That was not on the table very long,” said Mike Argabright, district superintendent. “The board did not want to even look at that option.”
Argabright said the board did discuss two other possibilities for board make-up, though neither will resurface for several months. One option was to leave the districts as they now are, which is two board members from each of the three districts and one member elected at-large.
“The second option is just two districts, divided by population — one being the Neosho Rapids-Hartford area, with three board members elected from that area,” he said. “The other area being the Olpe area, with three board members being elected, and then one at-large...
“Right now that’s on hold because we can’t do anything until after the next board election this spring.”
