YESTERDAY VOTERS went to the polls and narrowed the list of candidates for the general election.
Six candidates are left to compete for the Emporia city commission in April, along with several candidates for school boards and other offices inside and outside of Emporia. But everyone who entered the race deserves a pat on the back for having a willingness to serve our community.
Now, with 35 days left until the general election, let the politicking begin.
The candidates will be sharing their visions of how they can make our community better. And listening to the community discussions, it is evident that there is no shortage of issues that need to be addressed and that people are ready for prosperity. To move our community forward, the right candidates will not only need to have good ideas but be able to work as a team with the other commissioners.
With only 16 percent of people voting in the primary, we hope the community will take more of an interest in the general election.
Over the next month, why not listen to the public discussions and then vote on April 3?
Phil_Dillon (anonymous) says...
I'm willing to speak to anyone, any civic group to let them know exactly where I stand on the issues. I'm willing to discuss my stands on the street corners, in a meeting room, in an op-ed piece,, or a phone booth.
