An Americus School teacher was the subject of a state award-winning essay submitted by one of his former students.
Rick Ginter, physical education and health teacher at the Americus School, was in Topeka recently to see Jacquelyne R. Leffler win first place in the essay contest. She had been one of five state finalists in the contest, sponsored by the Kansas Federation of Republican Women.
Leffler had entered the essay contest, “My Favorite Teacher,” and named Ginter as her favorite teacher. Ginter continues to be her track coach at Northern Heights High School.
They are eligible to attend the conference this summer of the National Federation of Republican Women and compete for the 2007 national award from the Federation.
Leffler entered through the Santa Fe Trail Republican Women of North Lyon County chapter.
She is the daughter of Bill and Cindy Leffler and granddaughter of Jackie and Mary Leffler, all of Americus.
