Newman Regional Health has another orthopedic surgeon joining the team at Newman Orthopedics & Sports Medicine.
Michael D. Yost, DO, signed a contract this week to join Newman Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Emporia, 1301 W. 12th Avenue, Suite 105. Currently practicing in Pratt, Yost will begin practicing in Emporia in mid-April.
Yost received his bachelor’s degree in biology at The Colorado College in Colorado Springs and later received his Doctorate of Osteopathy at the University of Health Science College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Mo.
He completed his internship at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, Mich., and his residency in orthopedics at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. Yost later completed two fellowships, one in sports medicine and another in shoulder and elbow, at the Florida Institute of Orthopaedics in Tampa.
In addition to general orthopedics, Yost’s special interests include sports medicine and shoulder and elbow. He said he is interested in working with athletes from all walks of life, from the very young just starting out to “weekend warriors.”
“During his recruitment visit here, Dr. Yost was very impressed with Emporia State University’s training facilities and programs already in place,” said Newman Chief Executive Officer Terry Lambert. “He is excited about working with coaches, trainers and athletes at ESU and area high schools.”
