The Madison boys had few problems in its opening game of the Class 1A Regional, dominating Elyria in an 84-37 rout.
“We were able to jump on them early with good defense,” Madison coach Mike Pitko said. “We didn’t allow them to get good looks, and we kept rolling from there.”
The Bulldogs, ranked No. 9 in the final KBCA 1A rankings, started on a 20-4 run to take control.
Madison outscored Elyria in every quarter.
Eric Porter led the Bulldogs with 17 points, while Kaleb Schankie added 16. Jordan Stout chipped in 14 points.
Ten players scored for Madison.

MdCV boys 54, SCC 33
The Marais des Cygnes Valley Trojans got off to a strong start in the first round of Regional play, as they defeated Southern Coffey County by a score of 54-33.
Chisom Spencer and Brandon Litch played strong games, leading the Trojans to their victory. Spencer led all scorers with 14 points, followed closely by Litch, who scored a total of 13 points. Both players were an active part of the Trojan victory; Litch dominated with three-point shots, making three, while at the same time Spencer took control of the two-point shots, making five.
Dane Birk was the high scorer for SCC with 13 points, going 3-for-4 at the free-throw line to go with five shots from the field. SCC’s Braden Harvey fouled out, leaving SCC without one of its five scorers late.

Herington boys 56, Chase County 41
The Herington Railers gave a solid performance before heading into next week’s Sub-State, defeating Chase County, 56-41, on Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs, however, didn’t let the game go without a fight. Going into the second half trailing by four, the Bulldogs lost their stamina and fell behind, 39-26. In the final quarter, the Bulldogs reduced the deficit to five points with 5 minutes remaining. The Railers countered with a comeback, defeating the Bulldogs by 15.
“We just turned the ball over way too much,” Chase County coach Landon Hinkson said. “We really hurried our shots.”
Chase County lost a key player late, as Brian Palermo fouled out. Palermo was the Bulldogs’ high scorer with 12 points.
Securing the win for the Railers was Coty Miller and Chris Barnes. Miller scored 14 points, while Barnes followed suit, scoring 13 points.
