Gas company sold
A. D. Reiss, the owner of Reiss & Goodness Engineers, a civil engineering company, and Air Capitol Land Surveyors, recently purchased the Americus Gas Company. Reiss has owned the Severy Gas Company for 26 years and the Flint Hills Gas Company for 39 years.
Noise ordinance
At its January meeting, the Americus City Council voted down a proposed noise ordinance 4-1. A modified version of the proposal may be considered in the future.
Americus Days
There will be an Americus Days meeting at 6 p.m. March 13 at the Presbyterian Church Annex, 557 Broadway. The meeting is open to the public, which is welcome to make suggestions for the Saturday night entertainment in the park at this year’s celebration. For information call (620) 443-5050.
Antique power
The Flint Hills Antique Power Association met Sunday afternoon to discuss plans and activities for the coming year.
It was announced that in order for the EDGE insurance to be in effect, dues must be paid by March 10. For information call (620) 342-0674.
Committee chairmen were appointed. Plow days, parades, tractor pulls and weight trailers were discussed with members assigned to pursue various projects.
The club members voted to make a donation to the Sertoma train project and to join the Lyon County Historical Society.
The next board meeting will be March 18, and the next all-member meeting will be April 15.

Chamber of commerce
The next meeting of the Americus Chamber of Commerce is scheduled March 3.
Items on the agenda will be the March 10 Americus sesquicentennial birthday party and planning for the April sesquicentennial celebration. The meeting is open to the public. For information (620) 443-5480.
