Madison charges past Hamilton, 63-34

The Madison Bulldogs came through with a 63-34 victory against the Hamilton Tigers Friday night.

Yet Madison didn’t pull away until after halftime, as the Bulldogs held just a 21-14 lead at the break.

During the third and fourth quarters, the game changed, and the Bulldogs took control both offensively and defensively.

“The second half we played with a lot more intensity,” Madison coach Mike Pitko said. “I think that was the turning point in the game.”

In the final 16 minutes, the Bulldogs scored more points (42) than the Tigers did in the entire game (34).

A big part in the Bulldogs victory was Jordan Stout, who scored 17 points. Eric Porter added 14 points for Madison.

Lebo boys 51, SCC 50

Defeating the Southern Coffey County Titans was no easy task for the Lebo Wolves, whose victory came by a mere one-point margin.

The game was close throughout, as the teams played to a 26-all tie at halftime.

Lebo’s Cameron Smith scored 16 points, while Taylor Barker added 14. As for the Titans, Dane Birk came out as the game’s high-scorer with 19 points.

The winning margin came thanks to Adam Laflin, who had made just one field goal the entire game. It was Laflin who knocked down the winning free throw to break the tie and lift the Wolves to victory.

Council Grove boys 56, Osage City 38

The Council Grove Braves turned a tenuous one-point halftime lead into a 56-38 victory over the Osage City Indians Friday night.

Going into the second half, Council Grove was only leading, 23-22, but the Braves outscored Osage City, 33-16, in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Helping them do so was Clint Roddy and Blake Mayer, as each scored a game-high 13 points apiece.

Dalton Keeffe scored 13 points for the Indians.

Burlingame 42

Although the Marais des Cygnes Valley Trojans started Friday night’s game slowly, they rebounded to take the easy victory over Burlingame.

Both teams ended the first quarter tied at 6, but the Trojans’ Chisom Spencer and David Becker stepped up, together accumulating 37 combined points.

Spencer, scored a game-high 20 points, while Becker trailed close behind with 17 points.

Burlingame got a strong game out of Chris Patterson, who had 14 points.

“It was an awfully big win for us,” MdCV coach Thad Thurston said. “Burlingame is a really strong team.”

Hartford boys 73, Olathe Christian 60

Friday night’s game was a hard-earned victory for the Hartford Jaguars, as they defeated Olathe Christian, 73-60.

“I thought we did a tremendous job in our transition offense,” Hartford coach Chuck Ewy said. “All the post players ran the court real well.”

The Jaguars got most of their points out of three players: Blake Edwards with 21 points, Keegan Crawford with 14 points and Justin Farr with 11 points.
