Burlingame took a 22-14 lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back. The Bearcats exploded for 28 points in the fourth quarter to secure their 54-44 advantage entering the period.

Trevor Johnson scored a layup with 20 seconds left to put Chase County up in a close 63-59 victory over Wichita Homeschool Tuesday night.

“Our defense was outstanding in the fourth quarter,” Hinkson said.
Johnson’s layup was designed to be a last-shot setup, but when Johnson saw an opportunity to score, Hinkson said, he took it.
“We were playing a spread for the last shot, and a lane just opened up,” Hinkson said.
Two of Wichita Homeschool’s players fouled out in the fourth quarter, allowing Chase County’s guards to move the ball more effectively.
“You take two 6-3 kids out of their lineup and it makes rebounding the ball easier,” Hinkson said. “We were able to attack them.”
Joe Heathman led the Bulldogs with 27 points.
