Emporia Main Street will put off dedicating a sculpture to the city until the weather improves.
The dedication had been scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Feb. 20 as part of Emporia’s 150th birthday ceremony.
The stone sculpture was created by Alan Tollakson of Emporia and features the words “We the People” and a handprint on each side, representing an unidentified veteran.
Another stone behind shows various aspects of the community, from agriculture to education.
A new date has not yet been set but will be announced in the near future, Emporia Main Street said in a press release.
