The plans for the renovation of the Lyon County Fairgrounds are still under way, but organizers are taking it a little slower until some government questions are settled.
Lyon County Commissioner Bob Davis said this morning that the fairgrounds renovation hasn’t been in the spotlight because he didn’t want to mix the issue with government issues.
“I felt it’s appropriate to kind of pull back on this while the issue of the five-member commission was in the (forefront),” Davis said. “I didn’t want to get that drawn into that. I also wanted to pull back until a city manager is selected.”
Davis said there are people working behind the scenes on the fairgrounds project. Plans have been taken to a local architect, who is going to help with some redesign of the plans.
“We’re taking things one step at a time,” Davis said. “I wanted to get some of this other stuff out of the way that would have hampered it. We’re going to try to get the city involved into it. It’ll be in the headlights real soon.”
Davis said the emphasis will be on the new 4-H and industrial exhibit buildings. Emphasis also will be put on remodeling the former Deer Trail building, where the Lyon County Extension Office will be housed.
