The Emporia State Indoor Track and Field teams came away with a pair of provisional qualifying marks this weekend while competing at two of the most prestigious winter meets.
At the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational, Jonel Rossbach improved on her mile time, finishing seventh in 4:53.36. The time stands as the second-best women’s indoor mile run in school history.
Eric Wellman also provisionally qualified, running a personal-record 4:10.98 in the men’s mile to finish fifth.
Kara Euler also participated in the Meyo Invitational, posting a season-best time of 57.67 seconds in the 400m to earn 26th.
“I think ESU was named as many times as ever on the Notre Dame campus with all three athletes leading their races at some point,” ESU track and field coach Dave Harris said. “This was a worthwhile trip and the kind that we need to take with some of our top athletes.”
At the Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., Trent Olivier earned sixth in the shot put and 15th in the weight throw. Skyler Delmott added a 12th-place showing in the 5000m run.
ESU will split its squad again next weekend, with some athletes traveling to the Mule Relays and others going to the Iowa State Classic.
