Spelling bee coming soon to Lowther South

Lowther South Intermediate School will host the 2007 Lyon County Spelling Bee next month. Schools in all Lyon County districts are currently holding building-level spelling bees and the top three winners will compete in the County Bee Feb. 13. The spelling bee will be held in the Lowther South Auditorium starting at 10 a.m.
Emporia Middle School and Lowther North Intermediate School recently held spelling bees. The winners who will move on to the Lyon County Spelling Bee are:
Emporia Middle School - Ryan Huth, first place; Haley Housholder, second; Jenna Peters, third; and Ines Alvarenga, alternate.
Lowther North: Dustin Hampson-Wilson, first place; Arun Paramanthan, second; Mercedes Bounthapanya, third; and Lauren Miller, alternate.
The winner of the Lyon County Spelling Bee will qualify for the Kansas competition March 24 in Topeka .
