Honors recital at ESU
The ESU Department of Music presents the 2007 Honors Recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Heath Recital Hall of Beach Music Hall. The guest artist will be Valerie Simosko, flute. On Feb. 10, there will be the Woodwind Day Grand Finale Concert, featuring guest artists and student participants, at 4:30 p.m. in Albert Taylor Hall of Plumb Hall. There is no admission charge for the concert. However, there is a $5 fee for activities, which include master classes and rehearsals, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb.10 in Beach Hall. Registration will begin at 8 a.m.

Sherwood
The Missoula Children’s Theatre will present “Robin Hood” at 7 p.m. Feb. 9 and 10 at Lowther South Middle School. Tickets, available at the Arts Center, are $7.50 each for adults and $1 for students. Tryouts, for students K-12, will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at Lowther South. Information: 343-6473.
Paper Cuts
The ESU Department of Art opening exhibition, “Paper Cuts: The Art of Contemporary Paper,” begins Monday and continues through March 2 in the Eppink Gallery. The arts bulletin says “This exhibition is comprised of 30 sculptures made entirely out of paper. They range from origami methods of paper folding to floating abstract forms infrequent to our knowledge of the role paper plays in our lives . . . a common material used in an uncommon way.” The Opening Reception will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
The art of love
The Valentine Invitational: Showcased at the Emporia Arts Center will be exhibited through March 2, featuring works by different artists using the theme of “LOVE.” ESU art faculty and students have submitted art, with works in the show for sale to benefit Art Department students through scholarships. There will be an Opening Gala from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 14, with refreshments provided.
‘In the Mood’
“In the Mood,” described as a “retro 1940s musical revue featuring the ‘In the Mood’ singers and dancers with the sensational String of Pearls big band orchestra,” for all ages, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 15 in Albert Taylor Hall. Tickets, $30 each person and no cost for ESU students, are available at the Arts Center, 618 Mechanic St., or by calling 343-6473.
