For Emporia State University students, the Super Bowl is only the start of the fun.
On Sunday, ESU’s Student Recreation Center and the Emporia Brown Express Athletic Club will hold a Super Bowl party aimed at college students. Starting at 4 p.m. at the recreation center, the evening will include a basket-shooting contest and a football-passing contest, or, for the diehards, just kicking back and watching the game on big-screen TVs.
“What we’re trying to do is offer our college campus a place that’s healthy to enjoy such a large national event,” said JoLanna Kord, ESU’s director of recreational services.
There is no charge for the event. Free snacks and drinks will be provided by the recreation center.
Cash prizes will be awarded at the various activities and door prizes will be awarded throughout the Super Bowl. Prizes have been provided by Cassatt’s Brothers, Kentucky Fried Chicken, the ESU Memorial Union Bookstore, Coach’s Sports Bar & Grill, Jock’s Nitch Sporting Goods and Walburn’s Gym.
