Lyon County Attorney Marc Goodman will wear two hats starting Jan. 6 — county attorney and county counselor.
Lyon County Commission Chairman Marshall Miller said this morning that Marc Goodman will serve as the county counselor beginning Jan. 6. The decision was announced during Thursday’s Lyon County Commission meeting.
“He will just serve two hats and that’s not atypical in county government,” Miller said. “The commission felt like it was an economical move as well as an convenience move.”
Miller said Lyon County did take applications for the position but nobody fit the bill.
“We had several good applicants,” he said. “We didn’t get the person we were looking for. We looked inside and decided on Marc Goodman. The county counselor is really a part-time job so that’s going to work out OK.”
In other business, commissioners made two transfers of $350,000 into other funds due to greater revenue streams and cash carry-over for 2007. Miller said $350,000 was transferred from the general fund into the multi-year fund and $350,000 was transferred from a Road and Bridge fund into Road and Bridge’s machinery fund.
“We haven’t done that for a long time,” Miller said.
County commissioners also heard an update on the remodel of the former Deer Trail building near the Lyon County Fairgrounds. The building, which is being remodeled for the Lyon County Extension Office, won’t be ready by the first of the year.
“ ... Monday it will be getting pretty close,” Miller said. “We don’t have a move time allotted yet. But it will be after the first of the year. The first week or two, it will probably happen.”
In other matters:
F Today is the last day of 2007 the Lyon County Courthouse will be open for business. It will be closed to the public Monday.
F Commissioners accepted the 2007 American Disabilities Act Transition Plan.
F Commissioners signed a contract with Wildcat Construction for repairs to a bridge at the intersection of Allen Road and Road 290.
