Nominated to academy
Kansans were recently nominated to U.S. service academies. Those from this area nominated to the Air Force academy are Levi Lapping of Emporia and Jordan Johnson of Council Grove.
According to a news release, Sen. Sam Brownback congratulated the Kansans saying, “I applaud all of these young men and women who are willing to sacrifice so much to serve our great nation. I know that all of these men and women will serve America well and will make their families and friends back in Kansas very proud. I wish them all the best as they start this new chapter of their lives.”
Location of Narcotics Anonymous
A holiday meal planned by Narcotics Anonymous will be held at 325 1/2 Commercial St. on Christmas Day.
Doors will open at noon and the meal will be served at 1 p.m. Those who are able to bring a covered dish are welcome to do so.
The location of the luncheon was incorrect in an article published Thursday in The Gazette.
Emma Chase temporarily closed
The Emma Chase Cafe in Cottonwood Falls will be closed from Christmas Day until Jan. 2 at 9 a.m., because of illness in the family. There will be no “Old Timey Rock and Roll” on Friday.
